Mission Statement

First Presbyterian Church of Cooperstown is united by our faith in Jesus Christ;

as members of God’s family, we:

• Encounter God in Scripture, worship and the Sacraments, and affirm God’s Word as the heart of our communal worship experience

• Welcome, without reservation or discrimination, all who seek to join our fellowship as disciples, seekers, saints or sinners

• Promise to nurture all members of the church community through all stages of their spiritual journey, to encourage them in discipleship and love

• Affirm that the life of the spirit and the life of service are inextricable.

• Seek to minister to those in need, to the poor and the poor in spirit, to the hungry and those who hunger for justice and mercy in our community and around the world, and to be a voice for those whose needs and cries for help are unheeded in the centers of power

• Seek to take our place in the cloud of witnesses who have testified and will testify to the transforming and saving power of God’s grace through Jesus Christ

• Seek to build a more peaceful and respectful world through our prayers and actions in a time when conflict and division reigns in our country and around the world
